Executive Assistant

The Action Center on Race and the Economy (ACRE) drives campaigns that seek to win structural change by directly taking on the financial elite responsible for pillaging communities of color and working class communities and harming our environment. Through partnerships with organizations involved in local racial, economic, environmental and educational justice campaigns, we provide strategic campaign coordination and campaign infrastructure with an explicit racial justice analysis.


The Executive Assistant reports directly to the Co-Executive Directors, providing executive, administrative, and development support to the Co-Executive Directors, Board of Directors and other ACRE staff as needed. The Executive Assistant also serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the Co-Executive Directors.


Complete a broad variety of administrative tasks for the Co-Executive Directors including:

  • Managing an extremely active calendar of appointments

  • Completing expense reports

  • Composing and preparing correspondence that is sometimes confidential

  • Arranging complex and detailed travel plans, itineraries, agendas

  • Compiling documents for travel-related meetings

  • Work closely with the Co-Executive Directors to keep them informed of and prepared for upcoming commitments and responsibilities.

  • Monitor and respond to Executive Director emails when necessary and ensure appropriate follow up

  • Assist with other duties as assigned


  • High School Diploma

  • Driver’s license and reliable transportation

  • Experience with data management

  • Proficiency in Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Experience using social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook

  • Experience working with communities of color and diverse communities

  • Passion and dedication for ACRE’s mission

  • Excellent writing, editing, grammatical, organizational and research skills

  • Ability to travel

  • Ability to work long and irregular hours

This is a full time position based in Detroit, Michigan. Qualified applicants will be expected to begin position in June or July 2018.


Position on a salary scale commensurate experience. Includes paid vacation, holidays and sick time, and incredible benefits package.
